Thread Lift
Are you looking for something more substantial than a facial or microneedling – but don’t want to undergo a traditional face-lift surgery? If so, you may be a good candidate for a thread lift – also sometimes calling a “lunchtime face-lift.”
What Is a Thread Lift?
A thread lift involves the use of thin, surgical-grade, dissolvable thread to sculpt a more uplifted, youthful look to your face. The thread is inserted into the skin and tightened, which pulls the skin upward, eliminating sag and resulting in a smooth, young, and more alert appearance. The results of a thread lift can last for up to 3 years.
How It Works
There are two mechanisms at work with a thread lift, both of which contribute to a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Once the thread is inserted under your skin, your provider simply pulls the skin tight. You are not harmed by the thread’s presence under your skin. It triggers a healing response in the area, including the production of collagen. This provides an extra smoothening and firming effect in your skin.
Areas Targeted by a Thread Lift
You can select one area of your face for a thread lift – or you can choose multiple areas, depending on your needs. Some of the most common areas treated with a thread lift include:
- Forehead
- Eyebrows
- Eye area (crow’s feet)
- Nasolabial fold (the line that develops from the nostrils to each side of the mouth)
- Sides of the mouth (laugh lines)
- Cheeks
- Jowls, jaw line, and neck
Who Should Get a Thread Lift?
Good candidates for a thread lift are men and women who are in good health and between the ages of 40-60 years. For the most effective results, a thread lift should be used on those for whom signs of aging are just beginning to appear.
Because this in-office procedure does not require the use of general anesthesia, thread lifts are an excellent alternative for patients who want a face-lift but have medical conditions that make undergoing surgery risky. Topical anesthetic is used to ensure your comfort during the thread lift.
Thread Lift vs. Face-Lift
Because a thread lift is not a surgical procedure requiring general anesthesia, it features less pain, risks, and costs that are typical of a more traditional surgical face-lift procedure. There is also zero recovery time needed with a thread lift.
While the effects of a thread lift are less dramatic than a face-lift, it may also be more natural-looking than a face-lift for the same reason. For many who want to see what a face-lift may look like – but without committing to the cost and risks of surgery, a thread lift is a quick and easy alternative.
Enhance Your Results
You may also wish to supplement the effects of a thread lift with other minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, such as Botox or dermal fillers, PRP therapy, and more. Ask your UniMed Center provider what services may be right for you.
