Dr. Jenny Liu provides her patients with an integrative approach that takes advantage of her many different fields of medical expertise. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Liu is also a certified medical review officer (MRO) and licensed dietitian (LD), with a master’s degree in health and nutrition.
Dr. Liu practiced medicine in China prior to coming to the U.S. in 1991 to pursue her master’s degree in health and nutrition at Brooklyn College. In 1995, she was recruited as director for a new department at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where she established the Community Outreach Department, as well as two other satellite clinics that she then managed. She also organized various community health fairs and promoted community health awareness in both the Asian and Jewish communities.
After completing a medical internship at Maimonides Medical Center’s Department of Internal Medicine in 2000, Dr. Liu began her internal medicine residency training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. In 2002, she directed several clinical studies and practiced occupational and urgent care medicine at an urgent care center in New Jersey. She then began working with New Jersey’s Veterans Health Administration in 2004, where she engaged in both clinical care and research. During her time at the VA, she served as a committee board member for the Integrative Medicine Board.
Dr. Liu founded UniMed Center in December 2007, specializing in internal medicine, bariatric medicine, alternative medicine and nutrition. She also continues to conduct clinical studies.
With her wide range of experiences, Dr. Liu is capable of providing care for whatever ails her patients and offers treatment with both alternative and conventional forms of medicine. Dr. Liu is fluent in English, Native Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Dr. Liu is also devoted to helping people who are underserved or have no health insurance. Since 2007, Dr. Liu and her team have provided free medical consultation and flu vaccines to people in the local community who have limited access to health care. She is also the founding president of the New Jersey Chinese American Physician Association. During Covid-19, she organized and aggregated community donations of nearly $800,000 for hospitals and other local services. This effort was reported by ABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News. She has won multiple awards from the Alliance of North American Chinese Physicians and Jersey Women Physician Association.
In her free time, Dr. Liu enjoys interior design, singing, folk dancing, and playing the accordion.
